Two BTO projects have finally been finished. 782 owners of units in Senja Ridges and Senja Heights have received keys to their new homes.
The wait for the owner is finally over. Two of the five BTO projects were affected by Greatearth Corporation and Greatearth Construction, which burst.
The completion dates had been delayed by about three months. The work was passed due to the liquidation of Greatearth. Greatearth could no longer fulfill its obligations as its debts ran up to $70 million.
BTO Projects Delayed By Pandemic
Due to the pandemic, the BTO projects were delayed. The construction sector was badly hit by the Covid-19 outbreak in dormitories. Works was also slowed down due to safe management measures.
The completion date was postponed from the fourth quarter last year and was finished in January. HDB provided the new contractors with a list of subcontractors and material supplies from Greatearth. It was easier for them to work out the arrangements with minimum changes.
Greatearth Files To Wind Up Company
Greatearth filed to wound up a week after the closure of five BTO projects. The directore of Greatearth Corporation and Greatearth Construction declared that the company’s inability to continue business.
The company wind up leave many sub-contractors in the lurch. The sub-contractors are facing heavy losses from the payment owed by Greatearth.
They told The Straits Times that they were locked out from the site and couldn’t retrieve the building materials such as steel components which has not been paid for.
